Delete your Duo Budget account and data
You can delete your Duo Budget account and the data linked to it at any time. You don't need the app installed to ask.
Duo Budget is for people aged 18 and over.
Ask us to delete your account
Email us from the email address you sign in to Duo Budget with:
- Use the subject Delete my Duo Budget account.
- Send it from your sign-in email, or tell us which email you sign in with. If you write from a different address, we'll ask you to confirm from your sign-in email before we delete anything, so nobody can delete your account for you.
- We'll delete your account and data and confirm by email within 30 days, usually much sooner.
Or delete it in the app
In Duo Budget, open the Partner tab and tap Delete my account and data, then confirm. This deletes your account straight away.
What we delete
- Your sign-in account: your email address, your name from Google sign-in and your sign-in sessions.
- Your personal budget lines, your personal savings goals and your pay cycle.
- Your place in your household, and any invite codes you made or used.
- If you're the only person in your household, the whole household: every budget line, goal and goal contribution in it.
- Everything Duo Budget saved on your phone, when you delete in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes it.
What stays, and why
- Your shared household, if your partner is still in it. The shared budget lines and shared goals belong to both of you, so they stay with your partner. Your name is removed from them. Goal contributions you made to a shared goal keep their amount, so the goal total stays right for your partner, but they're no longer linked to you and any note on them is removed.
- Routine backups. Copies of deleted data can remain in our database provider's routine backups for a short time until those backups are replaced.
- Your deletion request email, so we can show we did what you asked. We keep it for up to 12 months.
On the waitlist
The Duo Budget waitlist is separate from app accounts. To be removed from it, use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails, or email us at the address above and we'll delete your waitlist details.
